How To Use Practice Trading
Practice investing gives you a quick training on how to place orders, trade, and manage your portfolio and account on Abacus.
Click on Practice Trading on the left menu on the web platform to get started.
Select your preferred starting capital from the options listed.
- To buy - Click on buy, enter the company you’d like to buy in the company section, for example, Kenya power, or Safaricom. Enter the number of shares you’d like to buy in the Quantity section. In the price area, the price will be auto-filled depending on the actual market price for that share. After you have done all that, click on place order to place your order.
- To sell - Click on the sell button, enter the company you’d like to sell (you must have the shares in your portfolio before selling). The quantity you’d like to sell, the price you’d like to sell at would be preset.
- Holdings - This is the portfolio that shows the shares you have in your practice trading account. It will also the value your shares have gained or lost.
- Transactions - This is a list of transactions that you have done in your virtual trading account
- Account - This is where you can reset your practice trading account (return everything to zero).
Unfortunately, Practice Trading is not yet enabled on the mobile app at the moment, we are developing this feature on the app and will let you know once it's done.
